3 Ways to Keep your RV in Good Condition Much Longer

When you own an RV, maintenance is an essential part of it. These vehicles need more servicing than other cars, SUVs, and trucks. Although you might not know this when buying your RV, maintaining it is more complicated. The reason behind this is it has several systems that could potentially fail. The stakes are much higher if you don’t check or clean it regularly.

RV

Because of the challenges, it might be best to develop a checklist. It will guide you on when to inspect everything on your RV, meaning you will be less likely to miss necessary steps. You’ll save on repairs and feel safer while on the road in the long run.

Article Summary show
1. Cover your roof
2. Lubricate the slide in rails
3. Maintain the condition of your tires

1. Cover your roof

It would be best to give your roof more attention when maintaining your flatbed truck camper. This part is especially susceptible to environmental damage and the sun. The elements tend to cause often damage that you might have a difficult time noticing. Ignoring your roof can be expensive since replacements and repairs are expensive. One effective solution is to store the camper under a traditional cover or a carport.

There are several varieties in the market, meaning that you can get a cover that will completely cover your RV. You could also get a custom cover. Many quality covers, such as steel covers, have warranties providing lifetime protection. Also, ensure that you clean the RV roof regularly.

2. Lubricate the slide in rails

A squeaky pop sound when opening your RV can be irritating. Apart from being a nuisance, it could mean that your slide-out rails need some care. When your rails aren’t correctly maintained or lubricated, they can deteriorate because of corrosion and rust. Depending on how many times you use your RV, ensure that the rails are lubricated once or twice every year. This will keep your slide-outs from squeaking the entire season.

You can also buy a lubricant spray that’s designed for slide-outs. Although it might be a little more expensive than the regular lubricant, it is cheaper than entire replacements.

3. Maintain the condition of your tires

Another way to maintain your RV is to get the tires cleaned, covered, and protected whenever it’s parked for an extended period. The sun rays can quickly deteriorate the condition of your tires. This might lead you to replace these tires even before you’ve worn out the tire treads.

After you have cleaned them, you treat them using a UV protectant. Additionally, cover your tires using an RV cover when storing them. Before you buy these covers, ensure that you measure out the diameter of your tires to get the right fit.

An RV vehicle is an expensive investment, and it should thus serve you for several years. When it’s in good condition, you’ll have an opportunity to create memories and enjoy the outdoors more.
